POMMARD 2009

Back to list

From the north to the south of the Burgundy, every winemaker voiced the same opinion: the 2009 vintage will be one of the best in the decade. It has some similarities with the 2005, and it has a very distinctive aromatic power and a structure providing it all the qualities of a “Grand Millesime” (great vintage) to be kept in your cellar.

Climatic Conditions

The sun was very strong in August 2009 and the summer weather allowed the wine to develop very well. The Pinot Noir matured with a very strong expression of power. Even before the grapes reached the production cellar, they were excellent with the right balance of sugar, aroma, and acidity showing the elegance of the Burgundy wines.

Harvesting

The conditions during the harvesting season were excellent due to the nice weather and a very favorable development over the last 3 months. The vineyard had the opportunity to recieve some welcoming rain showers with just the right quantity. The polyphenoloc composition of the grapes is a very good example of this extraordinary maturation.
The juices have a wonderful purple colors. The tannins and the seeds were round and voluptuous. The grapes start to develop some notes of hazelnuts which brings the aromatic complexity of the wine. The oenologists admire the purity, the complexity, the richness, the structure, and the aromatic power of this vintage. The aromatic profile is built around ripe fruit and soft spices, creating the perfect balance, which makes this wine very desirable.
